Low-cost & Free Fun - Activities that are fee-free or cost next to nothing :)

Okay, you want to have a fun-filled varied full life but you think you don't have enough income to live the life you crave. Maybe not... but you can learn to love the life you live and it certainly can be fun-filled varied & full. There's plenty of fun to be had out in this wide wide world and you might as well grab your share :)

I will add to this list as I have new ideas so check back with me every now and again.

Oh, by the way, I do realize some of the activities on this list involve equiptment. I include these activities because many of us have these items stored away in our closets or garages or perhaps we have a friend we can borrow from. It doesn't hurt to ask. If you want to buy an item for pennies on the dollar, check out a local thrift store.

Get Outside and/or back to nature-

go bird or butterfly watching
feed the birds or ducks some leftover bread or stale crackers
collect leaves or acorns
pick flowers and put in a vase in your home or give them to someone you love
have a picnic- spread out a blanket - eat some homemade goodies, look up into the trees, find familiar shapes in the clouds
plant something - It's therapeutic, many of us have old seed packets lying around, or ask a friend for a clipping of something you admire from their yard.

Be a kid, again - kids don't need money to have fun:

fly a kite ( there's always room at your local park )
climb a tree
see if you still know how to do a somersault or a cartwheel
roll down a grassy hill with people you like
play hide and seek or tag if you have the stamina
go to the park & take a turn on the swings or the slide ( if your bottom still fits :)
play a board game - pull out the old favorites and remember why you loved them

Be active:

Go ride a bike ( you never forget! ) or a scooter or strap on a pair of rollerskates
play catch or kick a soccerball around- or better yet organize a game of baseball, football, soccer, volleyball or badminton with friends
take a walk or a hike,
go swimming or boogie boarding at the beach
put on some music and dance - invite some friends if you dare
how many sit-ups, pull-ups, jumping jacks and push-ups can you still do? Not many? Try every few days and record your progress.

Get creative:

sketch things, animals and the people around you
go on a photo safari - indoors or out. Digital cameras with rechargeable batteries are friendly on the budget. Go wild - take pictures of anything that piques your interest. Get close-up, take pictures from interesting angles, play with the camera settings. It can be tons of fun and you'll have some suprisingly good shots :)
write a story - see what's in your head and your heart, just waiting to come out

get crafty:

dry flowers or petals by pressing them in the pages of an old book
make stick or sock puppets & put on show
paper machier something
paint something

Search the internet:

There are many fun free things to do on the internet- however, proceed with caution as some sites and links are suspect and are just phishing for your information and/or might have viruses. If you don't feel comfortable don't click & if don't give out personal information.

You can start your own blog on a topic that interest you :)
You can join social networking sites like Facebook where you can share photos, news and even play games with other people.
You can shop Ebay - you'd be surprised what you can buy for pennies on the dollar :)
You can learn new skills like typing or a second language
Enter the many contests online and possibly win something.

Take advantage of local resources:

The Library - What, THE LIBRARY! Yes, the library :)
Okay, I will give you many good free ideas but I don't have the resources the library has. There are whole books dedicated to free fun. Look for them, check them out & if you have any really great ideas please share them with us all & add your comment, here :)
Also, it's worth mentioning ( or reminding ) that the library has many books, magazines, newpapers, dvsd's, cd's that they will loan you, for free. Ask your librarian for reccommendations. Leave your worries behind for a little while and immerse yourself in a really good book. Let yourself be transported to another world filled with romance, action, or whatever your interested in.

Go to a museum - most museums have a designated day each month when admission is free.
There are many types of museums & there is bound to be a few that pique your interest. Why not visit a museum dedicated to Art, Natural History, Science, Music, particular hobbies like trains, children's museums with hands on exibits & many more!
